Setting up Email Account with Outlook Express
Setting up Email Account with Outlook Express
Empire Elements accepts no responsibility for the set up of Outlook Express or Outlook 2003; along with many other web sites we simply provide helpful information.
We ask that you check you have done the following BEFORE contacting us if further help is required:
- Check you are using the domain name provided to you by your ISP.
- Check you are using the correct pre-fix as provided by your ISP. For example info@ or Mail@ or Server@
- Check you have not used .com when you should be using .co.uk
- Check your own email address and password are entered correctly
- Check CAREFULLY the spelling of every word. For example have you used an i instead of an l
- Check that you have not typed lll when you only meant to type ll. With some letters this is hard to notice.
- Check CAREFULLY the correct punctuation is used. For example have you inserted a comma (,) instead of a full stop (.)
- Check you have chosen the correct server type. For example hotmail is usually HTTP and will not work if set up as POP.
Make sure your domain name loads. If it doesn't load your your email account wont work. Make sure you have setup your email accounts at yourdomain.com/cpanel.
You are now ready to begin setting up your email accounts.
1. Open Outlook Express
Go to "Tools" and click on "Accounts"
2. A "Internet Accounts" window will pop up. Click on "Add", then click on "Mail".
3. This will start up Internet Connection Wizard. Enter your name where it says "Display name:" and click "Next" at the bottom right.
4. Enter your Email address in the input box. This does NOT have to be your "username@yourdomain.com"( you can use "john@yourdomain.com, webmaster@yourdomain.com, etc). Then click Next.
5. In the Incoming mail (POP3) field type mail.yourdomain.com
In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) field type mail.yourdomain.com
(so if your domain name is yourdomian.com, then you would put "mail.yourdomian.com" there). Click Next.
6. Now type in your username that you have setup from cpanel using the following format: "yourusername@yourdomain.com"
7. Just click Finish and you're done!
Do not hesitate to contact us at Empire Elements if we can be of assistance to you.
