Simple Guidelines for your website

Millions of users visit various websites each day in search of information, in search of buyers, sellers, in search of jobs or just to chat with their loved ones or simply make new friends or to free themselves from boredom.
Internet today does not allow any individual to be lonely. Earlier books were described as a man’s best friend and today internet has taken its place.
Hence, it is very essential that the websites on the net should be able to glue the readers for a long time and make them addicted almost every day.

Here are some of the simple guidelines one needs to follow while designing a website:

Simple Layout:

The layout of the site should be simple and clear to understand. A perfect graphical arrangement of words and images makes the reader attracted and attentive. A clear white background is always the best choice as it makes the text more readable. If the use of colours or background image is necessary, one has to make use of eye soothing colours so that the reader’s eyes are not strained if he is on your site for a long time.

Easy Navigation:

The navigation bar is what will take your viewers to the different content pages of your site. Generally navigation bar defining the various sections of the site is situated on the top. This makes the reader aware of what all information the site holds for them. Use of attractive yet simply designed buttons with clear bold text makes a quick clicking by the user.

Easy and fast to download:

If the site has too many gifs or images, the page will take ages to download and the user will loose interest as his precious time is being consumed. Also, too many images spoil the look of the page. The user is here to read your content and not to see only the splashy images. Wherever necessary, images with effects should be there but don’t overcrowd the page.

Soothing Colors:

Colors play an important role in designing a website. Depending on the target audience, the site caters too, colours should be used. Like for a website catering to children, attractive solid colours like yellow, blue, red, pink, etc can be used. Site catering to teens can have more dark colours like black, maroon or a combination of funky gifs. If your site is information oriented, catering to a vast audience, then cool colours which sooth the eyes should be used.

Segmentation:

Segmentation refers to segmenting or dividing the page or making a perfect alignment of the page. The page should be divided in such a way so that the user is not lost on your site. Perfect alignment of the logo on the top, the navigation bar and the text in between makes a clear self-teaching.

Use of Graphics:

The graphic designing software like Photoshop, image ready, flash, illustrator, 3d studio max, etc are all equipped with various tools to make your image look classy. Each software has different effects and brushes which just changes the look of the image. However the effects should not be overdone as it will not only make the image heavy but the image will also loose its simplicity.

Content:

Content is the most important part of your site. This is what the user comes for. It should be written in simple language and the matter should be to the point and not round the bushes. Long articles make the reader loose interest and the use of repetitive words should be avoided. The articles should be written in proper paragraphs and the essential points should, be highlighted.

The main aim of your website is to attract more readers and make them loyal to your site. Efforts in making your site user friendly and convey the perfect message is the biggest reward a web-designer can get.
